A Fossil of extinct mollusks, Ammonites resemble large snail shells. They appear in the marine fossil record about 409 million years ago, and the creature that lived inside the shell resembled a squid. These particular Ammonites are from the Cretaceous Period and lived around the same time as T. Rex.
Choose Your Own whole polished Ammonite, made of Calcite and Aragonite.
Formed by settling out of oversaturated solutions, Calcite can take many shapes and colors. The color comes from inclusions of Hematite, a type of Iron. Aragonite forms when Calcite meets high pressure and temperature. It can also be found near hot springs and ancient lake beds.
