Big beautiful amethyst spirit quartz specimen from So. Africa
Pure Quartz forms as colorless, transparent crystals with a glassy shine. Amethyst obtains its color by natural radiation activating iron impurities within the crystal lattice. The name Amethyst, a violet variation of quartz, derives from Greek, meaning “not intoxicated,” as it was believed the stone prevented intoxication.
