The name Mica comes from the latin word “micare,” meaning “to glitter.” Mica is a mineral family consisting of 37 minerals that form in all colors and is easily distinguished by its near-perfect cleavage. Lepidolite is the red, pink and purple variety of Mica, receiving its color from manganese inclusions. Lepidolite is a crucial source of lithium, and also contains elements such as cesium and rubidium. This standing freeform of lepidolite has been polished by hand and exported from Madagascar.
